Lobito de Mar is a truly happening place and the fourth restaurant of Marbella’s celebrity Dani Garcia. 3 Michelin-starred chef described it as a "chiringuito without the beach". A senior property consultant Olga names ensaladilla rusa with eel and tuna as the knockout dishes, while Cinthia, our property consultant, recommends Paella Iberica. She also mentions a convenient private parking, and calls this restaurant “perfect, whether you go out with friends and family or for a romantic date”.

Roostiq Marbella is dedicated to the farm-to-table ethos and slow cooking. The shining star is the Roostiq pizza with creamy burrata, summer truffles and Bellota ham. Davero is called ‘an Italian success on the Spanish coast’. This authentic cosy family restaurant is discreetly situated close to the old fishing port, not far from Marbella's Old Town. You could almost call it ‘a hole in the wall’ and it is easy to walk right past it. But you stop, use your sense of smell, hear the waiters speaking Italian to each other, which provides confidence in what is to come. And what come is glorious Italian food made from genuine ingredients and products delivered from Italy every day. Another secret to fantastic Italian meal is a pinch of love for the food. Personal Opinions of Drumelia’s Foodies

Get your forks and knives ready as Drumelia’s main foodies unveil their personal gourmet experiences in the restaurants, which they consider the best in Marbella.

What Frequent Guests of Marbella’s Restaurants Choose

Artur, Drumelia’s CEO, and Bruna, a senior property consultant, are frequent guests in Marbella’s restaurants. Today they provides their opinion and advice on what to eat and where in Marbella.

Casanis, a charming bistro with French and Belgian kitchen influences, is located in the heart of Marbella Old Town, and Artur says that walking there is already quite romantic. Expect small tables (like in a real French bistro), oysters, caracoles and mussels, and meat dishes with decadent Beef Wellington as a star. It’s the place for watching the world go by, enjoying cocktails and a fabulous evening atmosphere!

Discover the enchanting Old Town of Marbella

In Lobito Del Mar on the Golden Mile, Artur recommends paella, tuna tartar and tuna carpaccio that he calls ‘extraordinary’ and ‘unique’. Bruna thinks, it’s a must-visit restaurant for fresh seafood lovers!

From Artur’s and Bruna’s perspective, El Patio at Marbella Club has the highest level of service. The lunch menu offers both exquisite food (oysters, ceviche, carpaccio, cheese selection) and ‘simple’ dishes, which we call “fast food”. The outstanding place proves that fast food doesn’t have to be junk food. Do you fancy a really good hamburger made with the best ingredients, or an old-fashioned wood-oven pizza, a pulled pork sandwich and chips fried to perfection? In the evening, do not miss the wood fire dishes: Wagyu steaks, tiger prawns, octopus, or wild catch of the day.

As the best dinner restaurant, Artur has named Marbella Club’s main restaurant. Of course, quality and name come with a price tag, but it’s worth it! La Plage Casanis in Elviria is his favourite beach club. There, you can enjoy awesome events, authentic organic foods, wood grill and a very elaborate wine list. La Plage to be!

As for the interior design that wows, Dani Garcia’s Leña in the Puente Romano Resort impresses Artur most of all. Not surprisingly! Leña has received the prestigious “Restaurant & Bar Design Award” for excellence in hospitality design. In 2021, it was chosen as the most beautiful restaurant in the world. The menu is focused on the raw material and its versatility on the grill, but with a very personal touch and a marked international influence. It’s Dani Garcia … and everything around him is always special.

In our Blog, you can find more information about the Puente Romano Resort in Marbella.

Another place has caught Artur’s heart with an exquisite dining experience and stunning setting on the beach in San Pedro de Alcántara. El Ancla, the high quality fish restaurant and a swimming pool club, boasts a simply breath-taking ambiance.

Personal Opinions

Drumelia’s property listing representative Joaquín is more than just a foodie. A Marbella native, he studied in a Swiss Hospitality School, and worked for Dani Garcia as the Events and Project Manager. As you can well imagine, he knows Marbella, all its places and hidden gems as a pro.

Among his top spots are: Aqui Te Quiero Ver, La Plage Casanis and Lobito de Mar.

According to Joaquin, Usategui offers the best meat in Marbella (ask for Chuletón). He goes for French food to La Creperie or Café de París, for Mexican to Mantarraya, and for Italian to Davero and Picasso.

As for the food itself, Joaquin recommends trying Paella and Espetos de Sardinas in La Milla, Zesty Shimps and California Rolls in Genji, and French fries with truffle, poached eggs with ham and an espresso and sparkling water in Cappuccino, a sophisticated and trendy restaurant with modern elegant atmosphere and panoramic sea views.

If you are into breath-taking sea views and coastal luxury, Drumelia’s handpicked collection of frontline beach properties in Marbella, won’t disappoint you!

Discover Some More Special Places For Best Food In Marbella

Are you missing the soul and flavours of the Mexican Pacific?

Julia, our lead editor (and foodie), had her own Food&Travel column in a Houston newspaper, and also lived in Puerto Vallarta, so we can fully trust her personal opinion on the most exciting Mexican food outside Mexico, amidst cool décor, served by nice people, which she believes to be Mantarraya MX Marbella.

The seaside location and Marbella’s climate allow taking advantage of everything the Mediterranean has to offer. However, PURO MÉXICO is in every detail: cherished traditions, interior and vibrant colours inspired by rich culture, music, cocktails with personality, molcajetes, best-shaped Margaritas’ glasses, and of course, every bite of amazing food, brimming with delicious flavours. Mantarraya tortillas, home-made with organic corn, taste even better than in Mexico. Carabinero Taco a la Diabla can rock the world of brave eaters!

Chef Roberto Ruiz (whose food is recognised by the demanding Michelin Guide!) recommends trying dishes that are “not typical”, like Mantarraya guacamole with scallops and jalapeño emulsion. Conversation-stoppers include Sinaloa oysters, but, really, all is worth heading to Mantarraya for. The authentic fiestas also include live mariachi performance.

Looking for a sustainable and ecological approach to dining?

Simke, a sales assistant, recommends a place owned by Belgians and popular among Dutch and Belgian guests. Idyllically situated by the sea, Luuma has super friendly staff, laid-back ambiance, elegantly decorated interior and healthy dishes with plenty of organic and vegan options. Simke says their truffle fries are the best she has ever tasted in Marbella (comparable to the ones in Belgium that is known all over the world for having the best fries!). A dog-menu is a nice bonus for those who want to come with their furry friends.

Craving for romantic environment?

Sergey, Drumelia’s founder and senior property consultant, suggests La Tirana, one of the most emblematic restaurants of Marbella. Set in an old Andalusian-style house amidst magnificent gardens, the venue offers a romantic ambience and Mediterranean cuisine. Sergey’s favourite dish is Chateaubriand.

Longing for good Argentinean beef?

Angus, located next to Paseo Maritimo, impresses with excellent corn fed beef, classic traditions and elegant atmosphere. Kevan, a listing agent, is French, but goes to Argentinean Angus. It shows a lot, isn’t it? A glass of Malbec or Syrah makes it a remarkable companion for Asado (we are preparing an interesting text about the best and even unique wineries around Marbella, stay with us!). Life is always better with beef empanadas, and they are excellent in Angus. However, according to our editor Julia, the very best empanadas on the coast are waiting in the modest but charming El Kiosko KiteSurf.

Fancy an authentic experience?

Born in Cordoba, our listings manager Ines goes for her favourite dishes to Taberna La Niña del Pisto in Marbella Old Town. They serve perfect rabo de toro, pisto, salmorejo, flamenquín and berenjenas con miel that Cordoba is famous for.
If you have passion for the authentic Spanish food and bustling atmosphere of the historic marketplace, Casa Rivas at Mercado Municipal de Marbella is a hidden culinary gem that Ines is happy to recommend.

Interested in vegetarian-friendly food?

It’s not difficult to follow a vegetarian, organic, dairy-free and gluten-free diet in Marbella. Most of the restaurants offer plant-based dishes. On the hunt for organic and natural products go to El Ecomercado Ecológico, Farmer’s Ecological Markets in Elviria and other parts of Marbella (not the same as weekly street market).

Julieta, our creative manager, is a vegetarian from Argentina (yes, it happens). She goes for her favourite food to Cancha II, a restaurant with an elegant, back to nature design, love for embers and that particular flavour they leave in any dish. Thanks to the restaurant’s unique location in front of Sotogrande polo fields, she can enjoy her provoleta and vegetarian empanadas while watching live polo.

Missing good old-fashioned Sunday roast?

Born in Cambridge, Liam, our property consultant, goes for his Sunday roast to La Finca. You can find a full menu of old-fashioned British favourites, legendary roasts, fish and chips, slow roasted pork belly, honey and mustard roast ham. All meals include Yorkshire pudding, mushy peas, carrots, broccoli, stuffing, cauliflower cheese and gravy! And they don't stop at roasts! The full name of the restaurant is La Finca Thai Fusion.

Do you need a reason to smile?

Carmen, our social media specialist, thinks that the lasagne cooked by Los Farolillos, a little gem in Nueva Andalucía, will make you happy. If you are an ice-cream enthusiast, look no further than Rivareno Gelato. Drumelia’s listing administrator Rosa recommends to try sushi in fabulous Maï Sushi in Guadalmina.

What else can you do in the beautiful, loved by celebrities oasis called Guadalmina?

Now that you know all our best spots for wining and dining, you can pick out one (or many), and order all the goods!

There is one thing worth mentioning. This is not a paid advertisement, endorsement or promotional message, but an independent opinion of Drumelia’s team, built on personal experience and preferences.

Let us know if you need any help or additional information about anything that you would like to know: the town and its surroundings, must-see places, lifestyle, best areas to live, and of course, the high-end properties for sale in Marbella area.
